How to Disable ABS on Yamaha Tenere 700

The Yamaha Tenere 700 (T7) is designed as an adventure motorcycle capable of both road touring and off-road riding. While ABS improves braking safety on paved roads, many riders prefer different braking behaviour when riding off-road.

Because of this, Many T7 riders look for ways to disable ABS quickly when switching from road to off-road riding - on loose terrain such as gravel, sand or mud.

Does the Tenere 700 Allow ABS to be Disabled?

Yes. The Yamaha Tenere 700 allows riders to disable ABS through the dashboard menu. However, the ABS setting resets every time the ignition is turned off.

This means riders must disable ABS again every time they restart the motorcycle.

Why Riders Disable ABS Off-Road

  • improved braking control on loose terrain

  • better rear wheel braking in gravel and sand

  • more predictable braking when riding off-road

  • easier off-road riding
